Hello, Friends!

Are you making plans for July 4th next week? The Fair St. Louis celebration has been moved back to the city this year, down by the arch! You can view the details for that and all of the fireworks displays around St. Louis HERE.

Couple of events on the way:

Congregational Devotional (Friday June 29th, 7pm): Tyler and Jason have asked that all members attend if they are able. Childcare will be provided.

Alzheimer’s Association Meeting (Sunday, July 22nd, 12:30pm – 1:30pm):  Please join us for a presentation titled The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s. This is a comprehensive overview of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease that includes information on diagnosis, progression, treatment, resources and support. There will be time for questions following the presentation. Contact Julie Schroeder with questions (cnedj@msn.com).

Marrieds and Singles Picnic (Saturday, July 28th, 4:30pm – 9pm): Come and celebrate the hazy, crazy, lazy days of summer. We will be travelling to the Riverside Shelter at Cliff Cave Park for a picnic, volleyball, horseshoes, and washers. Bring your own dinner and beverages; a bbq is onsite if you would like to grill. Contact Julie Hovey with questions: 314-458-7240.

See you on Friday!

Hello friends,

Confession time: As you are reading this, I am nowhere near my computer, the church, or even St. Louis! I’ve pre-scheduled this email to go out on Wednesday morning. At the time this is being sent, I’ll be on day 2 of my rookie year as an HKK counselor, probably eating french toast sticks and orange juice for breakfast with my fifth grade girls cabin. The kids will be getting mail at camp from their families, but the counselors would love encouragement too! If you know an HKK counselor please do send them a text or email while they are at camp. Most likely they’ll get it after they leave on Saturday (there’s almost no cell service at Eagle Rock), but it’ll be a nice surprise on the drive home.

Just a couple things for this week:

Congregational Devotional (Friday, June 29th 7pm): Apologies for the short notice on this meeting but we do ask that you please do join us if you can.

Business Directory: Just a reminder for our member/business owners that we are still accepting submissions for our church business directory. If you own a business and would like to be featured (free advertising…WOO HOO!) please contact Deb Selzle (dliteful61@yahoo.com).

That’s it for now! See you on Sunday.

Greetings, family!

We have exciting news! We have teamed up with Ritenour Co-Care to run a drive for men’s personal items on Father’s Day, June 17th. We are collecting personal care items for men (shaving needs, shampoo, body wash, etc.) Especially needed are deodorant, toothpaste, and soap or body wash. We have a goal of providing at least 350 items. A bin will be set up at the kiosk and you can drop off items anytime between now and June 17th.

We’re also happy to announce that the current Eurasian Missions total is $90,765. Collection continues through the end of this month; if you give a check or cash donation, mark it as “Eurasian Missions”.

Also this weekend:

Titus 2 Women (Saturday June 9th, 9:30am): Ladies of all ages are invited to join us for Maribel’s lesson…please do share the graphic below with your friends!

We’ll see you this Sunday, Gateway! Don’t forget that we meet now at 10am, this coming Sunday and every Sunday going forward!

THE WEEKLY

Otter.gif

Friends,

After Christmas and Easter, today is one of the happiest holidays on record. Today, May 30th, is World Otter Day. (I read on the internet that it’s impossible to be bummed out when you are watching otters, so it must be true!)

To celebrate World Otter Day, overload on cuteness HEREHERE, and HERE. You can get also get a daily dose of “Otter cam” here:

Important Dates coming up at Gateway:

Start of 10am Services/Summer Picnic (Sunday, June 3rd, 10am): June–and the start of our 10am service–is just around the corner! To celebrate the start of the summer, we will also have an all-church picnic. Food is being organized by family group; if you are bringing food please bring enough for your family group, children, and any guests. Water will be available to drink or feel free to BYOB.

For those who are bringing coolers or crockpots, we’ll have an area set up behind the partitions in the fellowship hall where you can keep items warm/cold until the picnic. Please pack cold items in ice. Outlets to plug in crock pots will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis in this area, too.

Titus 2 Women (Saturday June 9th, 9:30am):  In June, Maribel Chebuske will take us through her lesson, “Have It Your Way”. Life can’t always be “made to order”, but Maribel will show us how to savor and appreciate the “toppings of life” that we didn’t request.

Invite your friends! We encourage you to share the card below in text messages and on social media.

Church Business Directory: For those of you who run businesses, we want to offer you a chance for free advertising within our congregation with our first-ever Business Directory. If you’d like to be included, please send your information to Deborah Selzle at dliteful61@yahoo.com.  If you have questions, she can also be reached at 314-585-2115.

See you on Sunday at the picnic!
