THE WEEKLY: Holiday services, coming events, and some great news!

The sermon from this past Sunday is now available on Vimeo to view. Click HERE to watch now, or go to “Watch” on your Gateway app.

Great news! We’ve been in touch with the local news stations, and have begun the process to have Gateway added to the “School/Church/Business Closings” lists. This will mean that if we have to cancel services due to weather (like this past Sunday), we’ll be able have that announcement broadcast on the news along with other local closings.

We received confirmation that we’ve been added to the “Weather Closings” lists for Fox 2 and Channel 11. We are also working being added to the lists for KSDK (Channel 5) and KMOV (Channel 4).

We will continue to use our own platforms to announce church cancellations, but being included on the local media will give us another option to get the news out, especially for those who aren’t online as often and those who might be new to Gateway.

Here’s what’s on deck…

SATURDAY HOLIDAY SERVICES – Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (Both 4pm): Don’t forget, we won’t be having church services at either campus for the next two Sundays. THE WEEKLY: Special Guest Speaker this Sunday

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Friday night! A few of you have contacted us with questions about the banquet, so we thought we’d take a minute to answer the ones we’ve received here:

  • Please, please, please, plan on arriving no later than 6:45pm.Doors will open at 6:15pm, but we need to be in our seats by 6:45pm so that the hotel kitchen staff can serve dinner on time. (Wonderful small group leaders: Please connect with your group members and make sure they are aware of this, as this is an earlier time than last year.)
  • Dress is semi-formal. In the past women have worn party dresses, skirts and cute tops, or slacks and sweaters. Men usually wear nice dress slacks and button-down shirts, jacket and tie are optional.
  • NEW THIS YEAR: Table pictures! In addition to the pictures with Santa, our talented brother Hadrian Suber has agreed to take pictures of each of the dining tables. So even if you don’t pay Santa a visit, you’ll still have a memory of the evening. We hope to upload and share all pictures within about a week after the banquet.

Coming up….

Guest Speaker (December 11th) : This Sunday, we will be taking a break from the Ephesians series to welcome Michael Burns (pictured above with his wife, MyCresha). Like our own Jason Alexander, Michael is also an appointed Teacher for the ICOC, and has served on staff in Milwaukee, Fox Valley, and now Minneapolis. He has also authored several books and is involved in ministry training programs both in the United States and abroad. You can read Michael’s full bio HERE.

SATURDAY HOLIDAY SERVICES – Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (Both 4pm): So that our members and staff can enjoy Christmas and New Years Day with their families, we will be having two Saturday services on 12/24 and 12/31. Both services will be family-style, with adults and children sitting together.

We your need help in preparing for these services. With kids and guests, there’s a possibility that overflow seating might be necessary for one or both of these holiday weekends. We need to get an idea of how many will be attending each Saturday. Please, if you haven’t already, go HERE and complete our super-short planning survey (just 3 questions!). Even if you will not be attending either of these services, we would still appreciate your input.

Beginning of One Service at Main Campus – January 8th, 9am ONLY – Starting on January 8th, there will only be worship at 9am at the Main Campus; the 11am service will be eliminated. This will be in effect for all of 2017. Please note this change will not affect Downtown, which will still worship at 11am.

Prayer Request: Leroy and Edna Walters are grieved to report a suspected murder/suicide of one of the participants of their weekly Bible Study, Michael Opperman and his wife Denise. Both were found in their home this past Monday. Though not a church member, Michael had been a part of Leroy’s study group for some time. Please pray for the Opperman family and also for the members of Leroy and Edna’s small group.
