Veterans Sunday (11/13) + A new FB Group for PRAYERS!

We have two pieces of great news that we wanted to give you before the weekend!

Veterans Sunday (November 13, 9am) : We are planning a special service to recognize our Veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces. Please make a special effort to invite your friends and family who have served our country. You can share the link to our FB event:

https://www.facebook.com/events/1845126715716722/

Facebook Prayer Group:
This really exciting…we now have a new way to share prayer requests with our fellowship! A Facebook group has been created for all Gateway City Church members to share prayer requests with one another.  You can access the group from this link:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/GatewayPrayers/

Answers to your questions:

This is a “Closed” group? Yes. Membership in this group is limited to those who are members of Gateway City Church. But all ministry staff and elders have been given admin privileges, and will add you as quickly as possible once you request to join.

Can I add my other Gateway friends? YES! After you join the group yourself, we encourage you to go through your FB Friends and add all who are also members of Gateway City Church. We want as many of our members as possible to be part of this group.

What kinds of prayers can I post? All kinds….praise, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication are all welcome on our page! You can request prayers for family members, friends, those in other churches, pets, leaders, whoever you feel needs prayer. We’d also encourage you post a follow up…”Bill is out of the hospital and doing better! Thank you for the prayers!”

We do ask that the posts be limited to prayers only…please do not post memes, videos, or other off-topic items in this group. The admins reserve the right to remove posts that they do not feel reflect the spirit of the group.

I know people in church who are not on FB, what about them? You are welcome to submit prayer requests on behalf of church members who are not on Facebook. And please do communicate with the non-FB members of your small group…share the prayer requests that have been posted so that they can be praying too!

Why this group? Can’t I still email a prayer request? Of course! However, to post it on Facebook will be a much faster way to communicate with the church going forward.

As some of you know, the only time we email an immediate prayer request is when we are praying specifically for a Gateway member. Prayer requests for others are typically added onto the next all-church email. This policy minimizes the number of emails our members receive in a given week, which several of you have expressed to me that you appreciate. But we also know that in some cases it’s not possible to wait several days for the prayer request to go out.

The Facebook group has been created to respond to this ongoing need. This format will give our members a means to communicate out prayer requests right away, without having to wait for the next email blast.

We’ll be happy to email prayer requests on the weekly all-church emails, but encourage all who are able to take advantage of this new tool. In addition, this will give you a means to interact with the person who is requesting prayers, and let them know that you care.

I have other questions, or ideas about how to make the group even better. I’d love to hear them! Email me at kathy@gatewaycitychurch.com or call/text me at 314-737-8721.

Couple more things…

Prayer Request:  Urgent prayers are requested for Damian Sigman’s mom and dad. Damian’s mother was air-lifted to a hospital in Witchita, KS and is currently being treated for pneumonia. She has been in the hospital for most of this week and within the last 24 hours has taken a turn for the worse. Please pray for Damian, Joey, and Damian’s parents.
