It’s December! Just 24 days until Christmas. Just for fun, click HERE to view a webcam of Santa feeding his reindeer. Feeding times are 10am, 5pm, and 8pm on weekdays, and 5pm on weekends. And if you’re looking for neighborhood Christmas light displays to visit in person, THIS ONE is one of our favorites.
GREAT NEWS! We’re adding a “Prayer Request” section to our emails, starting next week. Read more about that and upcoming December events below:
Submitting Prayer Requests:
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” – Matthew 18:20
Our prayers have power, especially when we are praying together. In an effort to help our congregation know what needs to be prayed for, we will begin including a “Prayer Requests” section in The Weekly. (The Weekly is this weekly newsletter, which is also published on the Gateway mobile app.)
If you have something on your heart that you would like the church to pray for, please email it to email@example.com. Please keep these requests brief, no more than 3 sentences each. We ask that you submit these requests by Monday night, for publication in the The Weekly the following day.
Going forward, we will also be including illness and death announcements in the new “Prayer Requests” section as well. These should also be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Although The Weekly is sent out on Tuesdays, we are also happy to sent out a separate email for these types of requests as well, according to the urgency of the request.
News from Novosibirsk: Speaking of prayer requests, God is doing great things in Russia! We recently received this letter that we wanted to share with you. Please keep Novosibirsk, Omsk, and all the Eurasian churches in your prayers.
Strength in Weakness Workshops: As a Christian, you may find difficult to know how to respond to the world view of homosexuality. To help bring clarity to this confusing issue, we invite you to attend one or both of the following workshops. All are welcome, but please note the specific audiences for each:
Friday December 4, 7:00 – 9:30 pm – For Campus Students and Adults – Homosexuality 101 – Separating Myth from Reality & The Christian Response to Pro-Gay Theology. Childcare will not be provided, however classrooms will be open if parents want to combine babysitting.
Saturday December 5, 10:00 – 11:00 am – For Middle School and High School Students and their parents – The Designer’s Intent.
Both classes will be taught by Guy Hammond. You can learn more about Guy and his ministry at this website: http://www.strengthinweakness.org/
Christmas Party: Deadline to register: Sunday, December 6th.
The annual all-church Christmas Banquet will be on Friday, December 11th at 6:30pm. This year, we will celebrate in style at the beautiful Hilton Frontenac hotel. Semi-formal attire.
There are now THREE ways to access the online registration:
A sit-down, plated dinner will be served:
- Green Salad
- Bowtie Pasta with Chicken, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Peppers, Mushrooms, and Asparagus
- NY-Style cheesecake with chocolate and raspberry sauce
A special kid-friendly dinner will also be available:
- Fruit Cup
- Chicken Fingers and Fries
Cost is only $20 for adults, $8 for children age 12 and under.
Holiday Giving: Rather than a churchwide adopt-a-family program like we’ve done in years past, this year each coaching group/small group will choose a charity that they want to support. If you have a suggestion for your own group’s charity, talk to your small group leader or coach. Groups are encouraged to select their charities during early December, so please do spend some time this week in your small groups discussing which charity you will choose and what kind donation you will give.
Christmas Production: Our annual Christmas service will take place on Sunday, December 20. There will be two services as usual, at 9am and 11am. Childcare will be provided for ages 4 and under; older children will join their parents for this family-friendly service.
Pulse/Campus New Year’s Eve Party: The first ever Pulse / Campus New Year’s Eve Bash will be the “party of the year”. All Campus students and Young Professionals are invited! There will be fondue, snacks, games, fellowship, and dancing. Thursday, December 31st, beginning at 7pm. Please note, the registration cost is now $10.00. Contact Jackson Pavelka with questions and please RSVP as soon as possible.

Have a great week everyone! Hope to see many of you at Guy’s class on Friday night.
